5. Web analysis

Web Analytics with Umami

This website is tracked using Umami, a self-hosted analytics software. It runs on our own infrastructure with its own database; the collected data is not transmitted to any analytics service provider or to any third country. The purpose of this tracking is to identify which pages are being visited and how the website functions technically, in order to improve it.

Umami is hosted on our server at Hetzner (see Section 2, “Hosting”). The browser does not establish a connection to any other domain.

Data collected:

  • the page accessed—without query parameters or anchor tags—and its title
  • the previously visited page (referrer)
  • Date and time of the visit
  • Browser, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and language setting
  • Approximate location at the country, region, and city levels
  • Technical metrics regarding the page’s loading speed (LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, TTFB)
  • IP address

The IP address is not stored. It is used exclusively in RAM to derive the approximate location and, together with the browser identifier and a random additional value, to calculate a non-reversible identifier for the visit. This additional value changes daily; as a result, recognition is possible for a maximum of 24 hours and only within this website. There is no merging with other data or recognition across multiple websites.

The measurement data is deleted after twelve months.

5. Plugins and Tools

Google Fonts (Local Hosting)

This website uses so-called Google Fonts, provided by Google, to ensure a consistent display of fonts. The Google Fonts are installed locally. No connection to Google servers is established.

Further information on Google Fonts can be found at:

OpenStreetMap

We use the OpenStreetMap (OSM) map service. We integrate map material from OpenStreetMap via the servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is considered a secure third country under data protection law. This means that the United Kingdom provides a level of data protection equivalent to that of the European Union. When you use OpenStreetMap maps, a connection is established to the servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

In this process, your IP address and other information about your use of this website may be transmitted to the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF). OpenStreetMap may store cookies in your browser or use similar recognition technologies for this purpose.

OpenStreetMap is used in the interest of presenting our online services in an appealing manner and making the locations specified on our website easy to find. This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where consent has been requested, processing is carried out exclusively on the basis of Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Section 25(1) of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG), insofar as the consent includes the storage of cookies or access to information on the user’s device (e.g. device fingerprinting) within the meaning of the TDDDG. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.
